Burundi Nationals wishing to return to Burundi amid COVID-19 related closures, please fill out the following form!
The Embassy of the Republic of Burundi in Washington, D.C., would like to inform the public that starting effectively from Monday, November 16, 2020, the Embassy will resume receiving visa applications.
The processing time is 15 working days.
Also, all travelers entering or leaving Burundian territory must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test carried out before 72 hours of boarding. Upon arrival in Burundi, all travelers must be screened and comply with a strict 7 days confinement measure in one of the hotel establishments provided for this purpose (www.booking.tourisme.gov.bi)
The screening test ($100.00) and hotel costs are the responsibility of the traveler. For further details on visa applications, kindly check our consular section.

Should you need the embassy to issue you travel documents, you must provide the following
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
Parents' full names, job titles, phone numbers and email addresses
Copy of the expired Burundian passport
A non-refundable money order/cashier's check of $30.00 (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
Two (2) passport-size photos
A large prepaid, self-addressed return envelope
If you need the embassy to legalize your documents, you must provide the following
* Please note: It is recommended to provide the same document translated into French or Kirundi.
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
The seal from a local notary on the document
A copy of a document stating the applicant's status in the USA
A non-refundable money order/cashier's check of $40.00 (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
A prepaid, self-addressed return envelope
If you need the embassy to provide you with a life certificate, you must provide the following
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
A copy of a document stating the applicant's status in the USA
A non-refundable money order/cashier's check of $30.00 (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
The seal from a local notary on the document
Copy of a Burundi issued passport, if the applicant is of Burundi nationality
A large, self-addressed, prepaid envelope
If you need the embassy to authenticate your drivers license, you must provide the following
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
The original drivers license
A copy of a document stating the applicant's status in the USA
A non-refundable money order/cashier's check of $30.00 (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
If you need the embassy to issue you a document attesting of your marital status, you must provide the following
A signed request letter (mention your current address, phone number and email)
The seal from a local notary on the document
A copy of a document stating the applicant's status in the USA
A non-refundable money order/cashier's check of $30.00 (per document if different documents) payable to the Embassy of Burundi
Proof of celibacy (e.g. latest tax returns filled marital status as single)
If you need the embassy to provide you with a notoriety act in lieu of a certificate, you must provide the following
