H.E. Gaudence Sindayigaya officially took up his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Burundi to the United States of America on September 16, 2019, the day he presented his credentials to President Donald Trump.

Prior to his Washington D.C. appointment, he was stationed in Brasilia, Brazil, but was also accredited as Burundi's Ambassador to Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela.

As part of the vast national reconstruction project initiated after the war of the 1990s and the restoration of democratic institutions in 2005, he was appointed to be part of the joint steering committee between Burundi and the United Nations for the implementation of peacebuilding programs.
